Euro Foods to invest in Walsall

Euro Foods is planning to set up its own manufacturing facility in Darlaston in Walsall as a response to increasing demand for Asian snacks, it is understood. The move is expected to create 100 jobs.

The food manufacturer's factories in Asia already make pakoras and samosas for the UK market, which it imports and distributes to supermarkets and ethnic food outlets.

However, it plans to set up a new manufacturing facility in Darlaston as it cannot import meat-based products because of EU legislation.

The construction of a factory in the region would amount to an investment of about £5m, with completion expected in about two years.
