Kettle launches "better for you" baked line

Up-market crisp maker Kettle Foods is launching a line of lower-calorie baked chips in the UK.

The range is aimed at "health-conscious female consumers", the snack business owned by Diamond Foods indicated. The baked chips contain less than 100 calories per 25g serving, with 70% of the fat contained in fried varieties.

Kettle said that the baked chips were made from "real food ingredients" with "no hidden nasties".

Kettle marketing director Andrew Slamin said Kettle was offering "the Kettle promise of no compromise on taste" in a sector "that is seen as full of compromise".

The line consists of two varieties: sweet chilli and cream cheese & chive.

The company has gained impulse listings with Nisa and BP, as well as wholesalers and distributors to local independent retailers and catering establishments.
