Food Careers teams up with Productivity improvement Specialist

As a leading recruiter of senior managers into the Food Manufacturing sector, Food Careers has observed that many of the managers they place with both UK & Overseas businesses, have a great opportunity to improve systems and productivity.

Managers taking up senior appointments often bring a new approach and can quickly identify areas of a business that can be improved. The problem many senior managers face at a new company is the assumption that they will initially focus on issues such as galvanising a team, managing a project or micro-managing another issue not dealt with by a previous incumbent.

Food Careers has witnessed that senior managers joining a business want to quickly improve the areas they have identified could benefit from change. However, finding time to implement change is not an easy task with all the day-to-day management and ‘fire-fighting’ that is often required in a new role.

To assist newly appointed senior managers in implementing change, Food Careers has joined forces with a business who specialise in rapid, sustainable productivity improvement. Commenting on the partnership, Food Careers MD Chris Burns states “Senior managers we placed with clients are feeding back to us that they see massive potential for business improvement, but due to the current economic climate, their superiors want them to focus on today’s issues rather than medium-term productivity improvement.”

Chris Burns continues, “We could see the managers we placed were getting frustrated by not being able to make business improvement, so we sought to identify a company who could assist them with improvement and I am pleased to confirm that we identified a company who specialise in food manufacturing improvement and charge on success only. We are wholeheartedly recommending them to our clients.”

The way this Productivity Improvement Specialist work is at no-risk or financial commitment to the potential client. Firstly, they spend approximately two weeks on a factory site on an ‘expenses only’ basis. This fortnight assessment is used to understand the size of the opportunity and provide a detailed prioritised plan for rapid and sustained recovery, demonstrating how much cost can be taken out of the business and how productivity improvement can be achieved. If the client then wants the Productivity Specialist to implement the improvement plan, they charge a percentage of the savings they demonstrate can be made. So in effect, there is no financial risk involved to the client. Some companies have even gained government funding for the work.
