The Role

Work Days: Sunday to Thursday. 

This position reports to the General Manager and on occasion the Managing Director. The Factory Manager appointed will ensure the Production function is managed in an effective and efficient manner. This includes organising and prioritising production to ensure customer orders are processed, products are produced in accordance with food safety regulations and health and safety is observed within the factory. 

Utilising a hands-on management style, the Factory Manager will ensure staff are trained and mobilised on the right tasks at the right time. The Manager appointed will have a passion for Continuous Improvement and will follow the Plan, Do, Check, Act cycle, increase productivity, meet the daily production schedule, improve service delivery, reduce waste, and deliver a consistent quality product that meets customer specifications. 

The Factory Manager appointed will be a natural motivator of people, able to oversee and nurture a skilled workforce and identify training gaps and opportunities for staff development. The Factory Manager will set challenging KPI's focused on maintaining high standards on site with regards to BRC, Quality, Health & Safety and Cost. This will extend to the job holder being a key figure in establishing Lean / CI programmes focused on both short-term and long-term improvements.

The Factory Manager will be a member of the site Health and Safety steering group, implementing site-wide Health and Safety programmes that promote H&S as the number 1 business priority, and influencing H&S strategy. The job holder will report manufacturing performance and analytics to the Directors including areas identified for improvement. The Factory Manager will provide regular performance appraisals to their team and ensure each team member clearly understands their role expectations. 

With a great deal of autonomy within Production and Operations, the Factory Manager will be authorised to, reject product, instigate product recalls, manage disciplinaries, manage a budget, implement improved ways of working, host visitors on site.

The Person

We are keen to hear from individuals who have outstanding Team Leadership, leading a large team within a FMCG manufacturing environment. We are also seeking personal drive and someone who has a coaching mentality, with a track record of empowering and developing team members to fulfil their potential. 

The Factory Manager should also be flexible and adaptable, able to change course when the facts change and have a talent for Lean / Continuous Improvement and a confidence that inspires others. This role may also appeal to an Engineering Manager looking for a fresh challenge within Operations. Due to the location your own transport is required. Ref 3452.
