Food Technologist – Food Manufacturing

Kent / Surrey – Days Monday to Friday

Working for a leading Food Manufacturer, the Food Technologist will provide technical support throughout the product development process and ensure relevant information is entered into the system to ensure that products are manufactured to customer specifications.

The Food Technologist will report to the Technical Manager and will interact with Quality, Technical, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Planning, Sales and Operations. They will complete key tasks concerning products and materials, such as recipe alterations, setting up raw materials, recording product and packaging data and obtaining information required for technical product specifications including QAS’s.

They will manage raw material and finished product databases, identify possible constraints, contribute to production meetings, analyse production processes, carry out product risk assessments, calculate accurate nutritional information, ensure compliance with labelling regulations and be involved in the investigation of product issues including the identification of potential solutions e.g. change raw materials.

As part of a small team with a significant degree of autonomy the Food Technologist will get involved with technical and commercial elements of the product development cycle in a fast-moving environment including: suggesting raw material substitutions, controlling Allergens, creating and amending product process instructions, updating product line sheets, review front-of-pack and back-of-pack labels, produce fully compliant ingredient lists, produce quantitative ingredients declarations (QUID) and Allergen declarations.

The individual appointed will need to be well-organised and experienced within a similar role within a food manufacturing environment. They will accurately complete records and maintain data, take ownership and strive to improve information accuracy, product quality and the process to introduce new products to manufacturing. 

Applicants should be able to demonstrate initiative, confidence and self-motivation, combined with training and qualifications in Food Safety, HACCP and Allergens. Ref: 3185a

A competitive Salary is offered for this role: £30k to £32k pa depending on experience.
