A privately-owned Food business operating at the premium end of the food sector is seeking to appoint a Quality Supervisor for what is a newly created role brought about by growth. The individual appointed will join a friendly team at an expanding site that produces award winning foods.
Hours: Days, Monday to Friday
The Quality Supervisor will be responsible for a diverse range of responsibilities and will work in a hands-on manner. They will spend much of their time on the Factory floor, maintaining systems and procedures, carrying out checks on raw materials and finished products and playing a key role in Microbiology and Allergen testing.
The individual appointed will manage a Quality Assistant who mainly focuses on the daily quality checks and the swabbing programme and maintains quality logs and documentation. The Quality Supervisor will investigate non-conformance and implement corrective actions and apply a collegial approach to working with Production and other departments. As a growing business that is commissioning additional Production lines, the Quality Supervisor will get involved with line calibration and will assist with the process of introducing new products into manufacturing.
There will be a requirement to supply customers with information such as Certificates of Conformance (CoC’s), Certificates of Analysis (CoA’s), and shelf-life data, and the Quality Supervisor will be involved with the supplier approval process. As an innovative business with an ever-expanding portfolio of products, there will be a need to assess new suppliers and ingredients and work closely with the Technical team on Food Safety matters. There will also be an opportunity to assist in the preparation of the Factory for BRC audits and host Auditors on site.
This role offers a great opportunity for someone seeking a step-up to Supervisor level, as the appointed individual will be developed and coached by a very experienced Technical Manager. It is envisaged that the Quality Supervisor appointed will learn from the Technical Manager and expand their knowledge to the point where the business will promote them to Quality Manager. Therefore, a very clear career path exists for someone with the drive and motivation to progress their career.
As the Quality Supervisor will add their input and influence to decisions affecting the business, applicants are expected to possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Good organizational skills are expected as the individual appointed will get involved with a plethora of different activities. Experience within areas such as Fresh, Chilled, Short-Shelf-Life Foods would be of benefit. All applicants should have experience of working within the Quality function of a busy BRC accredited Food Manufacturing site.
