The Company
Ambrosia is one of the UK’s most recognisable grocery brands, as seen in all major multiples. Part of Premier Foods, the Ambrosia Creamery is located in Devon where high-quality milk is used to make rice pudding and custard products that contain no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives. The products are supplied in a variety of flavours and packaging formats.
The Challenge
Ambrosia needed to recruit a QA Technician for their Quality Assurance team following the departure of a team member.
As assuring the quality and integrity of Ambrosia products is essential, the requirement to find a replacement was urgent. Initially, Ambrosia instructed two other recruiters, but after a number of weeks they were unable to identify any suitable candidates. Ambrosia then contacted Food Careers as they felt an industry specialist may be better placed to assist them.
Food Careers were keen to assist and quickly identified that the Ambrosia site was situated in a small village with a population of 600 on the border Devon and Cornwall, far removed from a major town or sizable population. It was clear that the ‘catchment’ area for potential employees was relatively small, making this a difficult vacancy to recruit for.
The Result
Despite the small ‘catchment’ area to work with, Food Careers immediately conducted a search of their database and identified a suitable candidate who lived a 30 minute drive from the Ambrosia site. This individual had several years experience of working within the Quality function of major food manufacturers (including branded) in positions such as Technical Assistant, Technical Officer and QA Supervisor. They were subsequently interviewed by Ambrosia, offered the job and quickly commenced employment at the Ambrosia site.
The timescale from Food Careers initial contact with Ambrosia through to the candidate commencing employment was only 2 weeks, demonstrating the strength of Food Careers database of candidates and the timely manner in which Food Careers can assist clients with urgent vacancies.
The Food Careers database contains many thousand food manufacturing professionals and has been cultivated for over 10 years. The database is the starting point for any client seeking to recruit quickly, as it allows us to identify a suitable shortlist of candidates that will be forwarded to the client within 24 hours.
